Academic Medical Centre (AMC) is a well-known academic hospital  research institute located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. With the Department of Orthopedic Surgery a longstanding collaboration is present, which started in 1998 with Gabrielle’s PhD under supervision of prof. C.N. van Dijk. This has evolved to Gabrielle having a part time contract and many projects being done together with the AMC. Additionally, several big grants (amongst others Healing Water, PASSPORT, Vibrant Vision, Steerable Punch) were received in collaboration with prof. G.M.M.J. Kerkhoffs from the same department, which demonstrates the fruitful partnership of engineers and surgeons. Additionally, collaboration exists with the Departments of Radiology, Plastic Reconstructive & Hand Surgery and Biomedical Engineering and Physics.
